10 Best Nonprofit Resources of 2019: Shavonn's Favorite Things

Updated: Dec 19, 2020

There are a lot of free nonprofit resources to support nonprofit organizations to do good, better. Hey, Oprah even has a list of her favorite things. Check out my favorite things of free or discounted nonprofit resources:

Best Board Management Resources

Board Source (https://boardsource.org/): Need help whipping your Board of Directors into shape? Check out these resources to help your nonprofit thrive and excel.

Best Graphic Design Software

Canva (https://www.canva.com/): The word is out on this all-around invitation design, social media post creator, and all things printed or digital extraordinaire. They have a free account and even have discounts for nonprofit organizations (as of this posting).

Best Social Media Posting Software

Buffer (https://buffer.com/): So much social media content, so little time. Make the best use of your time by using this service to post once and for all and on schedule for all of your social media postings.

Best Tech Product/Service Offering

TechSoup (https://www.techsoup.org/): You can't go wrong with discounted Quickbooks, Microsoft Office, and Adobe, which are both much-needed necessities to run a nonprofit organization.

Best Nonprofit Comedy Relief

NonprofitAF (https://nonprofitaf.com): Looking for a good comedic relief moment, try NonprofitAF. Ran by Vu Le, this blog will have you laughing out loud with his wit, nonprofit experience and funny truths that make you say- "yup, that sounds about right".

Best Education Resource

National Council of Nonprofits (https://www.councilofnonprofits.org/): They are full of nonprofit gummy goodness.

Best Education Resource Runners-Up

Nonprofit Learning Lab (https://www.nonprofitlearninglab.org/)

Coming soon: Candid (https://candid.org/): Combining the resources of Guidestar and Foundation Center this education resource powerhouse is a force to be reckoned with.

Best Voting Tool

Election Runner (www.electionrunner.com): If you have a national Board, this one is for you. Members can vote online and via email while maintaining voting integrity.

Best Personal Development

CharityHowTo (www.charityhowto.com): Premium, live, and on-demand training for your nonprofit organization taught by the leading experts in the fields of social media, grant writing, fundraising, and more.

Best Funder Research Tool

Grant Advisor (https://grantadvisor.org/): Want the 411 on a potential funder? Learn how to approach them, the in's and out's of what they look for in their applications, and how they engage with their grantees. The best part is the feedback is from real people, not a funder profile written by the funder.

What are your favorite nonprofit resources? Did it make the list?
